Model colour is a good basic paint range that covers a lot better, about 40% cheaper than gw when you consider pot size, and comes in those great bottles, otherwise about the same as gw. GAME-INK range though is real nice, juicy vibrant transparent inks that are just mmmmm. The dead white is actually quite decent as far as hobby brand whites go though, an stand-out exception. This makes them fine as a final highlight but when ure trying to base with it, when its all the newbie has, they're gunna have a bad time. Game colour I would avoid as your first set as while they are vibrant and bright they are notorious for covering poorly. The big two ranges are GAME colour and MODEL colour. Vallejo: Ok vallejo has about 50 different sub-ranges. And no discussion about the bad is complete without mentioning the god awful pots. dry paints aren't necessary, wouldnt buy em with 1 exception (ryza rust as it works in tandem with their rust technical paint - typhus corrosion). Things like their blood effects.Ĭitidel bad: Whites and near-whites aren't great, fair amount of chalkyness. Their technical paints are also for the most part really good. Fairly opaque base paints which is nice when starting the mini, beginner friendly satin finish. It's more that each has specialities and niches, I've yet to see one that isn't the best at something.Ĭitidel good: Great washes, renouned for them. You can't look at a whole range and say any one brand is best.
